Reserve ‘Szczyt Wieżyca’
- Wieżyca
Reserve ‘Wieżyca Peak’ – was created in 1962 as a landscape reserve covering the area of 33.59 ha. The reserve includes the slopes and top of Wieżyca peak located on frontal moraines of Szymbarskie Hills. The protection covers a well-preserved section of the beech forest on the highest hill (328.6 m above sea level). The area is dominated by tree stands aged 120-160, beech and mixed with beech domination. Due to the location of a 35-meter observation tower in the nature reserve the concentration of tourist traffic is significant, threatening the protection of this area. Currently, plans are being made to move the black tourist route PTTK, which unfortunately runs through the reserve, to its edge leaving a forest path through the top of the hill as a reserve access route in this protected facility.
