Franciszek Treder Kashubian Museum in Kartuzy

The museum was founded in 1947. It presents exhibits related to the history and culture of the region. Museum exhibits are presented in seven exhibition halls of the main building. On the ground floor are displayed basic objects related to the activities of the local population, while on the first floor can be admired the products of Kashubian folk art. The main occupations of the Kashubians were agriculture and fisheries which is reflected in the presented exhibitions. The collected objects come mainly from the 19th century. Among them are remains of “dłubanki” – a boat made of a single trunk, shoes for a horse, collection of hives, old movable toys, kluki, Kashubian embroidery, historic furniture, etc.
