Kashubian Ceramics Museum of the Necel Family in Chmielno

In this museum-workshop, vessels with original Kashubian design are still being created, basing on the 250-year tradition of the workshop owners - the Necel family. The entire process of ceramics creation can be observed - from forming vessels out of gray ice-dammed clays, decorating them to glazing and baking.

Necel’s ceramics are characterised by unique ornamentation such as: a lilac branch, a tulip, a Kashubian star, a fish scale, a Kashubian wreath and a lily. The museum was established in 1993 on the initiative of the Kashubian-Pomeranian Association and has in its collection the products of the last three generations of the Necel family. In the museum, you can get acquainted with the history of the family and the workshop, follow the process of making clay pots and try your hand at a potter's wheel. There is also an option of buying a commemorative ceramic product.
